Restaurant Info
Seikoen is a yakiniku restaurant located in Shinjuku West, near the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building.
- Name: Seikoen Shinjuku West Main Store
- Area: Shinjuku, Tokyo
- Type: Yakiniku (Japanese BBQ)
- Note: Lunch is relatively less crowded, but smell may stick to clothes.
If you say it’s close to Shinjuku Station, then yes—it’s close.
But for people working around here, Shinjuku West feels just a little far.
This yakiniku spot sits right in front of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building.
I’ve passed by it many times but never actually went in—until today.

I figured lunchtime would be pretty relaxed.
Most office workers probably avoid yakiniku during the day because of the smell, right?
So I decided to give it a try anyway.

There were still people in suits and office uniforms, but it wasn’t too crowded.
Honestly, I kept wondering—how do they go back to work after eating yakiniku in a suit?
Maybe they’re senior enough to not care. Kind of jealous, actually.
The grill uses charcoal instead of gas, which is always a good sign.
That smoky flavor hits differently.

The kimchi wasn’t really my favorite, though.
As for the meat—it looked soft, but actually had a nice chewy texture.
I also ordered offal like kopchan, but forgot to take photos.
Still, the pieces were thick and satisfying. Definitely a highlight.
Spring has passed, and now it’s that fresh green season.
If you’re heading to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, this place is right along the way.
A solid option for a casual yakiniku lunch.
